Installation view of the Solo Exhibition of Arrangement Within Arrangements
Installation at SOMA Museum of Art, Seoul
In the white, empty exhibition space, Euyoung Hong’s works appear with blurred, restrained material qualities. This restraint takes a path different from stark contrasts that immediately stimulate the senses. Instead of delivering intense visual information, her pieces extend the viewer’s perception into a sensory layer beyond sight. Their haziness is not ambiguity, but a white space that opens into a deeper layer of perception.

Euyoung Hong has long employed fragments of objects and materials discovered during the deconstruction of architectural sites and environments as her artistic medium. In the process of examining how discarded materials carry physical traces and histories of use, the artist has consistently studied the structural possibilities and formative transformations of furniture and glass, thereby developing her own unique mode of reconstruction.
