Installation view of the Solo Exhibition of Arrangement Within Arrangements
Installation at SOMA Museum of Art, Seoul

Dismantling and rearranging the order of everyday spaces and objects does not happen in a single, unified way. Instead, it generates a new order across a range of different structures. In this process, what is near and what is distant fall away from clear distinction, and complexity and tension emerge across multiple layers. Jacques Rancière calls this “the politics of fiction that turns nothing into everything” and explains that “the narrative’s soon-to-disappear openness, or that random moment, carries the ability to turn a simple misfortune into a whole.” Another arrangement within an arrangement reconstructs the relationships of “incompatible demands” between inside and outside, opening up newly constructed structures among heterogeneous elements and evoking different forms of order.

The works are composed of transparent glass, thin wires, and transformed objects finished in a pale ivory hue close to white. These works repeatedly appear and disappear and establish a distance that encompasses an absolute space between the viewer and the artwork, creating an unseen framework that guides how the viewer looks. They also easily disappear or reappear at certain moments, revealing new forms. Moving through the nodes of multiple arrangements, where the boundaries between inside and outside do not permeate each other but operate from a distance, the works prompt us to reconsider “how to stand by the window” and “how to see.”
