홍유영의 작품은 현실과 관계 맺고 있다. 그는 일상에서 흔히 보이는 오브제를 채집해서 새롭게 조합하고 재해석한다. 이런 과정을 통해 사물과 공간의 관계는 구조적인 변형을 거치고 확장된 개념으로 탈바꿈된다. 입체미술이라는 영역을 고수하는 작가의 관심은 공간의 정치학 또는 공간의 사회경제학 쪽으로 옮아가면서 심화되고 확장된다.
